The Vision
If zero to ten was a scale that measured the continuum from emergency to independence we believe that Aquila Way is delivering excellent services from 1.5 to 5. We want to ensure that we do not stand still on the good work already being done rather we seek to continue to develop the services we already provide, in the quality and their breadth as well as through replication, whether we ourselves deliver these new services or do so by enabling others.
However, Aquila Way has asked itself what would services at zero look like? Who, within the communities we live and work in, are the people that are existing at zero? What are their needs? What services are being provided there, or perhaps more pertinently, what is lacking? Within this plan Aquila Way is committing itself to begin to understand the needs and allow ourselves to be ‘stretched’ in responding.
We feel compelled to investigate these questions over the coming years, and to become part of the answer.
We recognise that housing and support are often only the start that individuals require and that as they develop their skills and confidence the support we offer needs to be tailored appropriately. So as individuals travel towards full independence we will work with a wide range of partners to provide suitable services.
To enable us to do all of these activities in a professional manner we recognise that we must continue to develop quality governance and management of the charity, strengthening and improving as required.
As a Christian charity we have worked hard to be able to clearly enunciate our values and what this means in practice. Whilst the clarity of our values, and our commitment to them, remains as strong as ever, we will continue to deliver our services to individuals without discrimination, to those of any faith, and those with no faith. We will demonstrate our faith through the service we offer from emergency to independence.
Our Mission is to...
...serve people and communities from emergency to independence.
& we will do it by...
1. continuing to strengthen the quality and breadth of our current provision.
2. identify the gaps in provision at the point of crisis and respond with excellent quality services and relationships.
3. further develop initiatives and relationships to move individuals and communities on into independence.
The Values
Throughout the organisation there is a set of common values that is intended to guide our staff's behaviour and all decision making. The five values are:
1. Faith in a God who keeps his promises. We should keep our promises.
2. Grace God sent His son to die for each of us, not because we deserve it, rather because of His amazing love. This defines our love for others with second, third and fourth chances rather than legalism defining our work.
3. Hope in an eternal God, a God of the future. Dreams for the future are something we have for those we work with; our hope is that they too will come to dream.
4. Worth each of us is special and valuable. We value everyone equally as an individual and for the contribution they can make.
5. Life in all it's fullness with Jesus. Our work is not motivated by money, personal ambition, property or fame; rather it is our faith which drives all we do.
